Early College Credit
Concurrent Enrollment
Harper College’s Concurrent Enrollment is designed for High School Junior and Senior status (or students age 16+) who demonstrate college readiness both academically and emotionally. Students can earn college credits by taking courses at Harper during the summer, fall, or spring semesters.
Each student's high school transcripts and ACT/SAT/PSAT scores are reviewed to determine their college readiness. Students can take Harper College Placement Exams, if they do not have ACT/SAT/PSAT scores. Students also have to meet prerequisites for the course they wish to take.
Once the student’s application has been reviewed, all students must have an interview with an Academic Advisor to assess the student’s emotional readiness to take on the challenges of college courses at a community college where classmates may be much older.
Eligible students who take advantage of concurrent enrollment can:
- Gain an early advantage by becoming familiar with college-level coursework and expectations.
- Lower the overall cost of their college education through Harper's affordable tuition.
- Complete a core course to get a jump-start on college.
- Explore a subject that isn't offered at their high school.
Interested and elligible students must complete both of the following steps to be considered for the program:
Step 1: Apply to Harper
Complete the Harper College Application for Admission and submit a one-time $25 non-refundable application fee. (Students MUST choose the Credit-Seeking option — > Concurrent. [DO NOT choose High School Partnership])
Complete and Submit Two Concurrent Supplemental Forms
To complete the application process for Concurrent Enrollment, students must submit the two supplemental forms and attach necessary items requested.
